Intelligent Models

Intelligent Models are the cornerstone of BIM. Moving from 2D to 3D drawing
is one step but moving to BIM can be a daunting process. A 3D model without any data is
not much use for BIM and is termed as a "Dumb" Model. However when a Model as been created
"intelligently" with data attributes if will facilitate the entire BIM process.
Attributes as simple as room names or line ID's of piping can prove invaluable when reviewing build progress or calculating costs. Even after the project has been built an Intelligent Model can be used to isolate and find the subsystems of a building. For example an engineer can locate hard to find parts of faulty HVAC in an instant by running a search on the intelligent model in ArtrA. NEED BUILDING INFORMATION? ASK THE MODEL! The benefits are enormous, a staggering amount of time and money can be saved by using the process of BIM. Intelligent models can be created in all leading CAD packages and are the crux of getting the most from ArtrA and other BIM products. With a fully intelligent model specific attributes can be searched for, such as all objects that are associated with the sprinkler systems. With ArtrA this can further be extended by creating editable "Tags" that can hold a whole host of information such as last inspection date, current build status or anything you desire. With this not only could you search for a hard to find sprinkler valve and easily locate it by highlighting it within the model but you can find when it was last serviced, who serviced it, what its status is and even the manufacturers manual. All of this and more can be done with ArtrA by attaching tags and documents to specific objects in the model. ArtrA is compatible with the following CAD packages:
